The Advanced Placement (AP) program offers students accelerated learning and enhance skill development. Because it delivers university-level content, AP students can earn university credits while still in high school, through the successful completion of AP examinations.
Students begin preparatory groundwork for junior & senior AP courses. The core curriculum covers English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, and French.
Students continue their rigorous training at the junior & senior level while preparing to write AP exams. This flexible program allows students to select only the course they wish to take at the AP level.
Each AP Exam score is a weighted combination of the student’s scores on the multiple-choice section and the free-response section. The final score I s reported on a 5-point scale. Although universities are responsible for setting their own credit and placement policies, AP scores offer a recommendation on how qualified students are to receive University credit of placement.
5 = extremely well qualified
4 = well qualified
3 = qualified
2 = possibly qualified
1 = no recommendation
The AP Program periodically conducts studies to compare the performance of AP students with the performance of University students in parallel courses. For most AP subjects, results indicate that:
AP Exam scores of 5 are equivalent to grades of A+ and A in the corresponding University course.
AP Exam scores of 4 are equivalent to grades pf A-, B+ and B in University.
AP Exam scores of 3 are equivalent to grades of B- C+ and C in University.
