  • Students in AP courses study topics in greater depth, enhancing their intellectual development.
  • AP fosters a community of students and educators who ate passionate, curious and committed to academic excellence.
  • Students engage in in-depth inquiry and discussions, solve problems collaboratively and individually, and learn to write clearly and persuasively.
  • AP courses are developed by leading professors to reflect university-level learning.

FLEXIBILITY AND CHALLENGE

  • AP programs can be tailored to meet the specific needs of each student. Students may choose to write any number of AP exams in their junior & senior years. This would enable them to take a balanced approached to their studies by participating in co-curricular activities.
  • AP gives students the opportunity to realize their full potential. By challenging themselves, AP students can master university-level material while still in high school.

AP PROGRAM STRUCTURE

OVERVIEW OF AP EXAM SCORES

Each AP Exam score is a weighted combination of the student’s scores on the multiple-choice section and the free-response section. The final score I s reported on a 5-point scale. Although  universities are responsible for setting their own credit and placement policies, AP scores offer a recommendation on how qualified students are to receive University credit of placement.

    5 = extremely well qualified

    4 = well qualified

    3 = qualified

    2 = possibly qualified

    1 = no recommendation

The AP Program periodically conducts studies to compare the performance of AP students with the performance of University students in parallel courses. For most AP subjects, results indicate that:

    AP Exam scores of 5 are equivalent to grades of A+ and A in the corresponding University course.

    AP Exam scores of 4 are equivalent to grades pf A-, B+ and B in University.

    AP Exam scores of 3 are equivalent to grades of B- C+ and C in University.
